Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us who have recourse to Thee. (300 days Ind.) - 21st June 1947 Cardinal Griffin) This message was confided by Our Lord to Berthe Petit, a Franciscan Tertiary, born on 23rd January 1870, et Enghien (Belgium).
"Make My Mother's Heart - transpierced by the sorrows which rent Mine - known and loved", said He at Christmas 1909.
And on 8th February 1910: "I have told you the desire of My Heart concerning My Mother's heart. Love it and make it to be loved. This love will be a source of graces and great blessings for you and for the whole world".
During a pilgrimage to the shrine of St Anne, in Alsace, Berthe Petits Mission was revealed to her: THE CONSECRATION OF THE WORLD TO THE SORROWFUL AND IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.
"The Heart of My Mother - said the Master - has a right to the title of Sorrowful and I desire it to be placed before that of Immaculate because She acquired it Herself. The Church acknowledges that which I did for Her: Her Immaculate Conception. What I claim for My Mother now is that She be honored by a title of justice, a title She deserved through her identification with all My sorrows, through her immolation on Calvary accepted and borne for the salvation of mankind. She was particularly great in that Co-Redemption. For this reason I ask that the Invocation, such as I have expressed it be approved and spread throughout the Church in the same way as that addressed to My Heart and that it be recited by every Priest after the Sacrifice of the Mass. Already many graces have been obtained through it and many more will be obtained: it will be spread until the Church shall be exalted and the world renewed through consecration to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of My Mother."
A splendid promise: "The hearts of men must be changed; this will only be realized through the knowledge of the spreading, the counselling, the preaching of the Devotion to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary. This is the last succor I bestow upon mankind before the end of time: the recourse to My Mother throughout the universe under the title I want for Her (1940)".
Berthe has gone. She died on march 26th 1943, before she saw the fulfillment of her very special mission. From Heaven she continues her task... The Devotion was received favorably by Cardinal Mercier, by Pope Benedictus XV. who granted 100 days of indulgence to the Invocation (September 30, 1915).
Cardinal Borne consecrated England to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart during the Great War, and three times since then. His Excellency used the formula of Consecration sent over by Berthe Petit.
Let us realize the extraordinary grace Christ gives us by inviting us to have recourse to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of His Holy Mother.

Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, divine and purifying abode, take my soul under Your Maternal care, that it be always faithful to the voice of Jesus, respond to His love and accomplish His divine will.
I wish, o my Mother, to remember constantily Your coredemption, in order to live in the intimacy of Your Heart, united in all with the Heart of Your Divine Son.
Restore me to this heart by the sorrows and virtues of Yours. Protect me always.
